Mitchell DeJong is one of the winningest "kids" on the circuit. 9 Championships in 6 Years! -> 2007 Apex Open Karting Championship ; 2007 CORR Trophy Kart Championship ; 2008 LEMX Championship ; 2008 BITD Primm Desert Championship ; 2009 Traxxas TORC Championship ; 2009 Lucas Oil Off Road Race Series – 5th ; 2010 Lucas Oil Off Road Championship ; 2011 Lucas Oil Off Road Championship ; 2011 Arizona Short Course Championship ; 2012 TORC Pro-Buggy Championship ; 2012 TORC Pro-Buggy Rookie of the Year.

Who would have known that a 14 year old “kid”, not old enough to legally drive his neighborhood streets, would be claiming his 8th racing title in 5 years, 2 off-road titles in a single season, including the only 2011 Back-to-Back Championship in the Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series?... Shortly after the 2011 season started, Mitchell’s main sponsor pulled out of short course racing leaving him with a serious dilemma and thoughts that his racing season could already be finished. With only a week until the next race, Mitchell and company pulled together and reached out to what Mitchell knew best, radio controlled cars! TRAXXAS welcomed Mitchell with open arms creating a marriage that every 14 year old R/C car enthusiast dreams of!... His life long friend/pet became ill with cancer and passed away shortly thereafter. Three short weeks later, Mitchell’s mother was diagnosed with early stages of breast cancer. With an aggressive treatment plan, the family did their best to reassure Mitchell that “Mom isn’t going anywhere.” As Shelley, AKA Mom, started treatment each day to rid the cancer…. By the time Round 15 of the Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series was before him, MItchell had surmounted more wins and podium finishes than any of his competitors, but still found himself in a tight points battle with his good friend and fellow DeJong SuperKart racer, Mitch Guthrie Jr…. As fate would have it, Mitchell was dealt a shred of good luck on that final Round 15 race, and he stood on the podium in relief as he accepted the 2011 Championship wreath before thousands of off-road fans. The 2011 Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series Back-to-Back Championship will be written in the history books with Mitchell’s name, but only those that follow his story will understand the true triumph of this victory…. For 2012, Mitchell will open a new chapter in his self-written adventure novel, by creating history once again as the youngest Class 1 Unlimited driver to race in the deserts of Nevada. Mitchell will contiue to compete in short course racing and also race against seasoned veterans on the asphalt. Maybe “kid” is now the wrong name, good luck “young man.”

In 2012 he continued to prove his presence: “At age fourteen, Mitchell DeJong recently ended the 2012 season, a season that was chocked full of excitement, accomplishments and records. The driver was the youngest to ever win a Pro Buggy class race in the Traxxas TORC series.”

In 2013 he took more steps: “Mitchell DeJong is no stranger to racing, despite being only 15 this talented teen has made a name for himself as a Red Bull Racing Pro-Driver. As a longtime fan of the Team Losi Racing TEN-SCTE platform, it was only a matter of time before this young gun dawned a Team Losi Racing shirt and made it official. Look for DeJong on the full-scale track as well as the local RC track in Southern California!” … “For DeJong, GRC Lites presents a unique opportunity to continue moving forward in his career, having already conquered karting, desert racing, and short course championships. “The addition of the GRC Lites class makes it possible for me to drive a rallycross car at my age,” DeJong notes. “So that works for me! But besides that, I think it will really help me sharpen my racing skills. I’m really looking forward to this new challenge and the competition.”

Mitchell DeJong Wins Silver Medal at X Games Los Angeles in Global Rallycross Lites
Mitchell DeJong wrote history at the inaugural Global Rallycross Lites finally at X Games of Los Angeles by winning a coveted X Games Silver Medal. The shiny hardware also marked Mitchell as the youngest Global Rallycross driver to earn an X Games medal. The action packed Global Rallycross (GRC) weekend at Irwindale Event Center hosted multiple days of sunny California skies and sold out crowds. Sunday’s GRC line-up started with the Global Rallycross Lites practice/seeding where Mitchell logged some fast lap times, but looking for more speed through the corners, Mitchell and Olsbergs MSE GRC Lites mechanic, Bjorn, tuned the front suspension of the #24 Red Bull GRC Lite for his Heat race. Mitchell DeJong Fast in Global Rallycross Lites Bad Luck Prevails at Bristol Motor Speedway
After a stellar Top-2 qualifying session, Mitchell DeJong’s podium hopes at the high-banked half mile of Bristol Motor Speedway were shattered on Saturday during Round 2 of the Global Rallycross Lites series, when turn-one contact broke a suspension mount eventually forcing him into the safety barrier and onto the flatbed tow truck. The wild weekend at the “Coliseum” in Bristol, Tennessee started Friday in bright fashion with the debut of the new livery on the #24 Red Bull Olsbergs MSE GRC Lites race car. As the only Red Bull branded GRC Lite car in the world, the new look has turned some heads and garnered the attention of GRC fans from all over. Soon after the livery was placed, Mitchell went to work taking the shiny rocket into the first rounds of practice as he ran consistent lap times and inched his way toward the front. When it came time to qualify (aka seed) for the first heat race, Mitchell had tamed the steep 30 degree banked pavement course transitions, gravel lined chicanes, and high speed jump to nab the second place qualifier.
